Dr. Patrick Crossland
Trombonist Patrick Crossland was born in Jackson, Mississippi. Growing up in southern Louisiana, he began playing trombone at age 10. He has worked closely with several prominent composers. Solo performances include the Walker Art Center’s “Festival Dancing In Your Head” (2001, 2002, 2005), the Darmstadt Course for New Music (2004, 2006, 2008), where he was awarded a Solo Performance Prize, and the “Utopia Jetzt!” Festival (Germany) where he performed his acclaimed “V for Grock” multimedia recital. In 2009 he premiered his “Krieg dem Krieg” project featuring thematic works for trombone and electronics. In addition to his activities as a soloist and chamber musician, he is an avid improviser, working with a wide range of musicians, dancers, and actors. He is a member of the Composers Slide Quartet, Ensemble Laboratorium, and Zinc & Copper Works. Recently relocated to the Baltimore area, he teaches trombone and other music courses at the University of Maryland Baltimore County

Steve Arnold
Stephen Arnold is a bassist, composer, producer, and arranger living in Washington, DC., known for his deep sense of groove, earnest expression, and stylistic versatility. He has established himself as the engine behind many of the hardest grooving and most forward thinking musical groups in the region on both upright and electric bass, performing regularly with Sharón Clark, Brian Settles, Jessica Boykin-Settles, Fran Vielma, Simone Baron and Arco Belo, Aaron Myers, Sarah Marie Hughes, the Samuel Prather Groove Orchestra, Alex Hamburger, Nataly Merezhuk, Steve Washington, Dana Hawkins, Elijah Easton, Tyler Cassidy, ¡FIASCO!, and the Abe Mamet trio.
Arnold earned a B.A. in music and English from the George Washington University, where he studied the upright bass with Herman Burney Jr., who continues to be an important teacher, role model, and mentor and who gave him the tools to leap headfirst into Washington DC's thriving jazz scene. In 2018 Arnold was selected for Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center, and in 2020 his debut album as a leader, Sea Change, was a finalist for jazz album of the year at the Washington Area Music Awards and voted the #4 DC jazz album of the year by Capitalbop.

Nate Scheible is a DC based drummer/composer who has performed and recorded in a variety of bands and ensembles spanning multiple genres. Recent collaborators include Layne Garrett, Luke Stewart, Phong Tran, Sarah Schaffer, Nancy Havlik, Patrick Cain, and Gary Rouzer.
